When will public safety override the whole "rehab" idea?
Time and again lowlives are released into the public domain to rape and murder again. All in the belief presumably that these people are rehabilitated and no longer a danger. The latest of course being the Venables affair. When is life going to start meaning life? How many innocents must suffer before we will say that the liberal "experiment" has failed and just lock up these lowlives and throw away the key?

It was reported that he has been breaking his licence on many occassions and it is only this latest offence ' off a serious nature ' that he was re-arrested. Do you call that working ? If the system works why do we hear of similar cases so often. Some cases of violence and murder.
Fair question, modeller: if indeed Venables had broken the conditions before he should have been picked up before. But I'm inclined not to put too much faith in 'reports'. It's not at all clear that the media know the truth.
I'm also not at all sure we hear of such cases 'often'; I think they're fairly rare. Crime is a young man's game. Most of them simply grow up and grow out of it.

R1 I agree fully - but the problem is that even if we do get judges and a system ready to tackle the problem of lowlifes and re-offenders here, we are always going to be second guessed by the low life, nylon clad so called "judges" who inhabit a thing called the european court of justice somewhere in europe - theres a law report in the Times today about a couple of alleged murdering Iraqis - arrested in Iraq, detained in Iraq, who were handed over to Iraqi authorities for allegedly being concerned in the murder of British soldiers - Oh no say the european "judges" - because there is the death penalty in Iraq the action of the UK authorities infringed their rights - there wont be proper justice until this nonsense is repealed.
