I must admit the the new high speed train from ashford to St Pancras is fabbo. Takes me just an hour to get to London now, whereas it used to be over 2 hours sometimes crawling through the Kent countryside... the rabbits don't seem to go by any faster though, and mrs m wont smudge her lippy, it's reasonably smooth!
Wow! That's a real advance in technology. At present trains only run at about 120mph slower than their planned speed. In future they'll be able to run at about 245mph slower than their planned speed. Now that's what I call progress! ;-)

There's a link. I thought the only way this could possibly take place would be to have a dead straight line because there are too many curves in the existing lines to make it feasible. Nice idea if it happens, but, if the nearest connection to me is Newcastle then that's another hour to add to a journey. Going through Birmingham isn't much fun either.
