I know times were different then and I was brought up "properly", but rampant sexual activity just didn't go on then at the magnitude (if that's the right word) that it seems to now. There was that new invention called The Pill.
Were there benefits for single mothers in those days? I never knew or tried to fnd out, as I had NO intention of getting pregnant. What is wrong with the youth of today??

I've no idea what the beneit system was in the 1960s but i know that child benefit was paid for the first child I think, then in the 70s they changed that, I got maternity benefit when i had my first child in 1981, but I'd been working full time or the previous 9.5 years ! I agree that girls didn't ghet given a house when they had a baby, they had to bring it up at home with parents or get married and live with parents, but I may have totally been oblivious to a whole culture and just be assuming that!!!
