I have owing. cannot fully justify the O____G part of the answer

yes OwinG . . . . GO < = try (presumably a Down Clue, 'going North')

try = go, heading north = og (i.e. put backwards, since this must be a down clue)

success = win

That is what I said to my colleague but he insist "try" is not the same as "go"

Hi KHeMS, TRY is used as a noun, not a verb, eg 'Give it a TRY or a GO'
