Win ME updates

Yes, I know I'm in the dark ages, still running Win ME, (but if it ain't broke, why fix it?) Every time I log on to the internet and windows looks for updates, it ALWAYS finds a critical update 'Windows Media Player Script Commands'.  It dowloads it, installs it, but when it looks for an update again, (about once a week), it wants to do the same again!

Is it just me??

If Windows ME ain't broke why did Microsoft abandon it after about 18 months?
