Faulty fridge-freezer
The fridge section of my 15 month old Caple fridge-freezer is freezing up (the milk freezes) with the control set to minimum. Two new sensors and a new control panel fitted but the problem persists. Door seals good. The freezer section works fine. Any suggestion as to how it can be repaired?

Your question is often seen in this forum. Please understand that in most side by side refrigerators all of the cold air comes from the freezer side from the compressor mechanism. After entering the freezer a modulated amount of the cold air then goes to the fridge side. By modulation, I mean the amount (volume) of cold air entering the fridge is controlled by a mechanism, usually a louvered door at the top of the fridge on the freezer dividing wall. This mechanism is controlled by the thermostat in the fridge. As more cold air is called for the thermostat signals an electrical motor (or other such device) and opens the door. There may be a fan installed as part of the louvered door to aid in efficiently dispersing the cold air.
Obvioulsy, with your report that the freezer is working properly, the problem lies with the opening and closing of the control door. Often, you can actually disconnect the louvers on the door from the actuation mechanism and close it manually. (Sometimes not, don't force anything). A better test would be to watch the louver mechanism after setting a colder (or warmer) temperature on the thermostat and see if it moves. As you can guess, the problem may be in the mechanism or the thermostat... but any rate, best of luck!
