Removing a tag from a laptop
Yellow!
I have a laptop from an old company I used to work for 3 years ago. It's been sitting on top of my wardrobe gathering dust, and I finally decided that I want to use it! Unfortunately, I don't remember the password to log on and also it has an embedded asset tag from the company. Does anybody know if it's easy to change the password and remove the tag so that I can start using it?
Thanks in advance,

it may help if you said what make and model the laptop is, but as a general rule you unplug the CMOS battery and remove the main battery for a few minutes and it will clear it.
How tricky (or not) it is to get access to the CMOS battery varies hugely from laptop to laptop though, some can be got to in a couple of minutes by removing an access panel or the keyboard, others require virtually a full strip down of the laptop to gain access to it.
