hi
i was just reading the thread above - 'scam or not' (i hope nothing untoward happens with 1955s computer and credit card, i just hope she takes the advice given x)
anyway, it got me thinking back to when i had to get intouch with tescos a little while back with reference to a problem i had with my laptop.
as it was still under guarantee they gave me their technical help phone number to ring, and a helpful chap sorted the problem out for me by having access to my laptop after giving me a code that linked him up to it.
while he was working on it, i was there all the time watching.
surely he wouldnt/couldnt have done anything he shouldnt have done???
he assured me that once we log off he will no longer be able to see or access my laptop.
is that right please????
im a bit worried now ... any comments please?
thanks :o/

It doesn't matter that this is anything to do with computers, as somebody mentioned on the other thread, if a random stranger knocked on your door out of the blue and told you your car needed a service and they would do it for you if you gave him your credit card details and the keys to your car would you give them to him? I'm willing to bet the answer is no! The problem is, when it involves computers normally rational people seem to glaze over because they don't understand computers and subsequently forget all the common sense rules they would apply to all other areas of life.
