USA Immigration worries

I am planning a holiday to the USA next year with my family. The last time I was in the US was in 2000, I was arrested for "being drunk in a public place". I spent one night in a police cell and then was released. With the increased security measures since 2001, will having a record  jeopardise my travel arrangements?

I don't think there's any need to worry. I too had a similar experience to you when I went to the states in 1999. 

at the time i asked the police if this was likely to have any negative effects on future visists to the country as at the time i was looking to move out there.they said it wouldn't

i think when you're arrested for drunkeness etc. there's a slightly different procedure, called 'encapping' in the states which i don't think it means it goes on record.

Anyhow,I had no problems at customs when I returned for a fortnight in 2000, although obviously that was before 9/11.

If you're really worried you could try a discreet enquiry at the American Embassy and they might be able to help you more.
