Im only 7 weeks pregnant but Im currently suffering with (most probably unrelated) back pain. Its a muscle pain, very painful, and Im finding it difficult to sleep. Ive tried heat packs and a hot water bottle, dont seem to be helping much. Can I use painkillers? If not, what else would you recommend?
Thanks in advance!

Paracetamol is the only pain relief that you can take.
The pain you are feeling is probably ligament pain as your body softens in readiness for the big stretch.
If you feel that you need more than that then speak to your GP

thanks for that as well, be good to hear other peoples experiences!
i love the ivillage boards. I joined mums due June 05 in october 04 and have been there ever since. Ive met most of my fellow mums on there and also been on family holidays with them etc etc.
Its a great place to share experiences and find new friends too.

but as i said, the answebank is also a great place to get answers
i had the same jb with my little one. Its your pelvis getting used to going to be stretched etc

it should ease by about 9 weeks i think was mine. Paracetamol and hot baths, feet up and relax when you can
Im 7weeks to and I have had a little backache, mine however does ot sound no where near as bad as yours. I had my first midwife appointment and I did mention it to her and she said it was my body adjusting and getting ready for a growing baby, said not to worry about it to much, Im not saying this is the same for you as your back ached does sound a lot worse, but have a word with your midwife, mine was really helpfull.
Hope you feeling better soon.
with out stressing you out make sure you mention it to the midwife i had back pain it came and went and didnt think anything of it bit like a tooth ache it realy hurts at the time but forget it once its gone i had an eptopic pregnancy so its always good to check these things out it realy depends how painful it is
