My paternal great great grandmother's second marriage took place in the same year RD and quarter as her daughters first marriage. My GG grandmother was married at Daresbury Parish Chruch in the Runcorn RD. Now, in the GRO Index, my GGgrandmother has the reference 8a 337 and her daughter's reference, (remember same year, same quarter same RD) is 8a 336. I'm ordering both copy marriage certs. to see what they turn up, but is it possible that rather than just a coincidence, Annie my GGgrandmother and matilda her daughter actually both married in Daresbury Church at the same time?

Don't see why not it would make good sense.....probably all the same guests would have been at both weddings anyway...........

I'm really hoping so craft, it's never ever been mentioned in the family that she remarried, and her eldest daughter, my Great Grandma, had the family bible up to her death in 1960 and then it was at our house til 1977 when my grandma died and her younger sister snatched it back and took it to Frodsham, but there was nothing in it about the second marriage and so i am very curious. Knowing how the index is compiled i am certain that's what has happened.

How long between the death of your gg g/f and the marriages? It's the sort of situation that has happened in my family where the dad didn't approve of the daughter's choice of fiance. Marriages broke out like a rash after a certain g g/f died. The second marriage for gg g/m would likely have been as a meal ticket for her and a housekeeper for him, after the appropriate time of mourning of course, which was quite common. One lady I researched married three times in 10 years. As for the second marriage never being mentioned, perhaps the family disapproved of him....

He was a retired solicitor in Runcorn and yes probably for decorum they married, she had been a widow nearly 15 years by 1902. These are all the bits I am finally deciding to get sorted out and filled in, i have never got around to adding the info before but I have decided to stick at it and see what flesh gets on the bones now.
