Hi, a friend of mine is travelling to Russia for a few days at Easter and is a bit concerned about which currency to take. She's heard that Dollars, Euros and Sterling are all accepted, but is this true? Can you get Roubles in this country, and is it wise so to do?

Thanks a lot

You can easily get roubles here. As to the others, I am sure many businesses will take them, certainly the sort you are likely to come in contact with. Whether they give you a good exchange rate is another matter - remember you will already have paid to convert into $$ or €€ so it's a double whammy.

Having said that, some upmarket businesses price in foreign currency - euros normally. They'll still happily take roubles
I took small denomination dollars as they are very welcome. But, make sure that they are not creased or defaced in any way. Roubles also acceptable.
