Games keep minimizing

Hi,

I'm really not sure if this should be in the tech forum or not.

I've recently bought a couple of games on Steam, and when I attempt to start them they just minimize and won't maximize. This has happened before in the past (with Steam and non-Steam games). What's weird is that Left 4 Dead 2 does work. I've looked around on the web and it seems like people do have this problem but there doesn't seem any identifiable solution.

I would post my specs but to be frank I'm not sure what information is relevant and what isn't.

Can anyone help?
