Why in the uk, do Dobermanns have there ears cliped??

dunno but its cruel in the US they have all boxer dogs ears clipped too it looks ugly and drastic!!

There are numerous breeds of dogs that have ears clipped to conform to desired characteristics of show dogs, which are supposed as the ideal... Same applies for docked tails in many breeds of dogs...

I believe (& hope) that ear clipping is illegal in the UK now. When you see Dobermanns in adverts etc with clipped ears, you know the ad was made in he USA.

Docking is supposed to be illegal too, except in certain circumstances, but you still see very young dogs tht are pets - ie do not meet those circumstances - but which have been mutilated.

Conversely, it is becoming more common to see boxers, cocker spaniels and others proudly waving their tails and I look forward to the day that the only docked dogs seen are in history books.
