My parents are planning a 3 week trip to England and Scotland next summer with another couple. My Dad and his friend are really into Scotch and are thinking about seeing some distilleries whilst they are in the country. Can anybody recommend some? Please give the name of the establishment as well as the town it is located in so we can find it in our map book.
Cheers!

Whisky...without the 'e' in Scotland. With the 'e', it refers to Irish or American drinks. Click here and the link will take you to a map showing the main towns and whisky distilleries on Speyside, one major whisky area. Alternatively, go anywhere on the island of Islay.

This'll also help whiskytrail

We visited Pitlochry last year and we were told about Edradour.  (Only a few miles from Pitlochry) It is well worth a visit.  I copied this from their web site for you

Edradour is a unique, single Highland malt whisky, to be enjoyed in recognition of those small, significant moments that make up the ebb and flow of life.

Edradour is produced in Scotland's smallest distillery - and is hand made today as it was over 150 years ago by just three men who are devoted to the time-honoured methods of whisky making. Indeed equipment used at the distillery has remained unchanged since the day the distillery opened and is only just capable of producing commercial quantities. Only 12 casks of whisky are produced a week, making Edradour single malt a rare pleasure for a fortunate few.

If you manage to find it, you will be one of the few people lucky enough to experience its charm - golden in the glass, smooth and creamy with a nutty, honeyed finish.

Enjoy Life's small victories with Edradour.

we went to Glenmorangie Distillery up in Tain (were staying just ourside Inverness).  the drive there was only half an hour or so and you can easily stay for three hours.  A good tour of the distillery (including the whiskey holding cellars which are vast), plus at the end you go back to the distillery house for whiskey tasting.  would highly recommend if up in the highlands.
