I think you need to check it out with M&S - I bought my cover on-line originally and I feel there may have been a check box to say "will you commute in the car" but I couldn't be sure.
Hi, I have just this Min got in contact with M&S & yes, you are right Boxtops you DO have to stipulate that the car will be used TO & FROM your place of work, I also ask why this was not asked of me in the first instance??? in other words, if you do not ask, they will not tell you, forgive me for being a bit on the back seat here but do you not think that should not EVEN come into the equation? Bloody hell the next bloody thing they will ask you, are your tyres Black & round, I would advise ALL to check this out before you come unstuck.
Sadly it is seen more and more S&D with or without traveling to your place of work has become comon place.
Even though without that essencial travel we probably couldnt afford a car to start with.
Personaly i think its a rip-off as i see it, it is domestic to have to go to the place of work and return home.
Most people dont use their cars while at work and anyone expecting to should expect to pay extra for that privilage, but the travel to and from work is why most of us actualy get vehicles in the forst place.
We should be lobying our MP's and fare trade regarding this stupid introduction of communiting on top of standard insurance ,after all you didnt insure your vehicle from 7pm to 7 am only ! You insured it for the year " all of the year.

I have worked in the insurance industry (Broking) for over thirty years and can tell you that this is nothing new. It's just one of the factors that is taken into account when calculating the premium. We used to do it manually at one time but now it's all done by the computer. Never, ever, try and save money by not telling the Insurer the true facts - it can cost you dear in the long run! Try posting this question under the "insurance" heading - there are some very knowledgeable insurance people on there.
