A convicted immigrant rapist is to be allowed to marry, so as to stay in this country.
We have a number of stabbings (some fatal), on our streets.
Many hardened criminals are just been given a slap on the wrist, and told to behave.
But true to the great British tradition of caring for animals, a 66 year old great-grandmother, is fined £1,000, placed under curfew, and ordered to wear an electronic tag for two months.
Her horrendous crime? Selling a goldfish to a boy of 14.

In the UK we kill 2 and a half MILLION chickens every day for food.
Makes the sale of one goldfish seem rather trivial.
Note: when I was young they would give away goldfish as prizes at fun fairs. Probably to people who had nowhere to keep them and no food to give them. Most were probably dead within a few days.

As Gromit has already noted on the earlier thread, the shop had not been randomly chosen, it had been reported to the council and this goldfish was a test purchase.
// Council officials began an investigation after being told they were selling animals to children. //
The charge wan't just selling animals to the under aged it was for...
// selling the fish to a person aged under 16 and for causing unnecessary suffering to a cockatiel by failing to provide appropriate care and treatment. //
They both pleaded guilty
I believe the legal somersaults of the marrying rapist have also been well outlined by dundurn in tuesday's post.
I'm afraid one can't make direct comparisons between legal cases when one is drawing information from a tabloid comic like the Mail that will only select the elements of a story that support a position it has already adopted.

They had been reported for selling animals to children and were therefore breaking the law.
How quickly would have people been bemoaning a lack of action on the part of the authorities if an animal sold by this shop turned out to be dangerous and attacked the child who had bought it or somebody else.

Well, perhaps after scanning the Daily Mule for stories to post on the News section, you may like to spend a moment or two checking to see if anyone has done so first, better and more rationally than you are usually inclined to do.
However, your self-importance would probably prevent you doing so..........

Are you being serious, this was a little goldfish that was sold, not a flesh eating Piranhas (even these can be harmless on their own) or perhaps a man-eating shark maybe? But then wouldn't a boy struggle to carry one of these home?

I have already admitted that my post was submitted in error, but If you in your haste to have a cheap dig at me, had read my post correctly you would have noticed that first three lines had been examples of recent events to highlight the story of the pet shop owner.
But then I assumed wrongly that I was dealing with people of a certain level of intelligence.
