3 Year old granddaughter has been ill since last thursday.............she was

laying around wiht a very high fever and just sleeping all day then was sick, just the once. The doctor said she had a virus that was going around. For the next two days she was sick just once each day again and still laying around asleep. Complaining of headache, high fever. Thought she was picking up yesterday and today has gone down again. My daughter took her back to another doctor today and he said she has had the virus and now she has the flu. Could this be swine flu.?

could be, could be virus, could be normal flu.
keep her fluids up and temp down as much as you can. Pain relief as needed.
If not allergic, ibruprofen and paracetomol can be given alternately through the day (not exceeding daily doses) to give more of a spread of pain relief

Many thanks, you are right about the headaches that was what I am worried about. My daughter said he took her by the window and she covered her eyes because of the light. This evening my daughter said she keeps coughing and is still just wanting to sleep. Have to wait until tomorrow I think and if she still isnt well I think the hospital should have a look at her. Told my daughter to keep looking for a rash. But I do know sometimes the rash doesnt come out until it is too late if.

If you are as worried as you sound I'd take her back and demand a second or third opinion - forget about hurting anyone's feeling - get the child sorted - you also maybe doing more harm than good by self medicating her. Did you get given any medicine? If so don't mix it with anything else without the Doctor's explicit advice. Really hope it's nothing too serious but if it were me, I'd be on the phone or down at the surgery nagging until I got it sorted.

my niece was unwell the other week and sounds pretty much the same as you are describing. She was not right on the Saturday and took her until the Friday to be well again. She is normally very healthy that was quite a surprise to see her like this but was very sickly and we believe even fainted when getting out of bed - was also suffering the headaches. Took her almost a week as I say but she is right as rain now and seemingly several others at the school had been off - was told just a virus.

Well thankyou all with your answers. Last night she was so much better , more like herself. so that would be a week since it all started. Her playschool teacher told my daughter five children had gone down with it this week all at the same time, What an awful virus.! I have never known her to be so poorly. anyway worry over but thank you all. xx
