FAO Sqad - lump in leg
1 Answers
Hi Sqad,
Further to my last post to you regarding the lump in my leg. I have since had a biopsy, and the results showed denervation, and not Focal Myositis as was originally suspected.
I am now under the care of a Professor at the National Hospital for Neurology, who has arranged an EMG test for me.
I was wondering if you know what the treatment is to repair nerve damage / denervation, and what causes it. The pain in my leg is continuing to get worse, and I have now been prescribed BuTrans patches, Diazepam, and Gabapentin.
Thanks in advance

Firstly.....I am beginning to think that I am out of my depth here and that you will have to lead me.
Secondly, you could not get better advice, management and treatment than at the "National"
Denervation just means that the muscle has lost it's nerve supply, there being a multiplicity of causes. Usually a denervated muscle shrinks, but in you case it seems to have swollen (lump).
The repair of nerve damage is complicated, depending upon which nerve, what has caused it and the length of time from onset to the present time. I would not have thought that nerve repair is an option in your case, but as i said initially, I feel rather out of my depth.
Sorry that I cannot be more helpful, but do keep me informed as to your management and progress as I am extremely interested.
