I couldn't think of any other category to ask this, so here goes.
I've an old leather bound Bible and the only clue to it's age is the date M.DCCC.LXIV on the inside cover.

while i'm trying to work this out, someone might coem up with the answer, and if they're different mine will probably be the wrong one

m = 1000

d = 500
c = 100

so dccc = 800

l = 50
xiv = 14

so lxiv is 64

Thanks everyone. I'm gobsmacked at just how old it is because on the page where the date was it mentioned his majesty the king and I thought it was around about the 1935 mark.
I'm now beginning to wonder if it's worth anything as it's in perfect condition with a gold clasp type lock at the side. Anyone know any sites that can assist me?

doesn't look like it will be worth a huge amount based on the date alone, but it may be a special edition or something so best to ask an expert.

1864 is Queen Victoria's reign. The king referred to is probably James VI of Scotland /James I of England, as it will be his authorised verson of the Bible.
