It would certainly be a nice idea to make this a haven from the relentless 'banging on' we are about to experience.

The only thing that could 'engage' me now is the sudden appearance of a group of conspirators and 36 barrels of gunpowder...........

The trouble is the vast majority of people know their own political leanings, and so most talk of politics on a site like this tends to be of the "my lot is better then your lot and your lot are rubbish" "no my lot's obviously better than your lot therefore I'm going to be rude about you"; it achieves nothing except antagonism, it's mostly just negative comments.

It would just be nice to have a haven from the OTT bombardment that's going to happen from all the media.

I think you may have to start a "politics free" thread on CB when you need a haven? I can get behind that.

I think restrictions on speaking about politics lead very quickly to "freedom of speech" arguments!

It is only once every 5 years you have to deal with it.

I have to deal with it when I switch on the TV or the radio, pick up a newspaper or enter a conversation 'in the real world'..............I really would be grateful to find a place (AB) where we can converse without the 'E-word' being mentioned.........

Can you not set up a specific 'Election' tab ?

Then thems as want to bang on can go in there, quietly shutting the door behind them and the rest of us can carry on with our pointless trivia...............

I agree it IS the 'big story' but 4 weeks of all the nonsense that surrounds an election drives me insane !
The unveiling of the 'new campaign posters', the photo-opportunities, the sound-bites, the spin...............accusation and counter-accusation; jumping on the trivial, ignoring the profound.

It doesn't matter, as docspock says, who you vote for, we still end up with the same barrel-full of monkeys...........

For the next few weeks ? For EVER please. They couldn't give a monkeys about the man/woman in the street and only want to feather their own nests (two usually). If they knock on the door canvassing they get a piece of our mind, whoever they are. Leeches.
