Washable Pillows?

How can washable pillows be described as such, cos they just don't wash!. They end up all lumpy whatever you do. I've bought expensive ones and cheap ones, followed the washing instructions to the letter and still end up with something like a bag a coal to rest my head on. I've tried for years but to no avail so now I just buy cheap pillows and replace them instead of washing them!!

I bought a pack of 4 pillows from BHS yesterday, reduced from £25 to £7.50! supposedly washable, but who knows?

I have to say, it was really nice to sleep on. I'm quite shocked.

I agree about the washable pillows turning out lumpy, however down pillows do turn out nicely.

My pillows are 100% polyester, £6 a pair and when theyre washed theyre like brand new, ive had them over 2 yrs now, and i give them a little bleach now and again to keep them pure white, a really good buy, or the memory foam ones theyre good too

What's your secret Therema? I've tried every pillow material available and they still turn out lumpy.

Great buy Sara but wouldn't hold out much hope when washing!

I put a couple of rubber balls (like the dog toy type) in with mine when they're washing. I read somewhere that them bouncing round the drum would help keep the filling from lumping together. I was sceptical till i tried it- and it only worked!

I am glad you posted that, Boo. I also heard that rubber-ball trick but thought it's a waste of time. I will give it a try now...

Isn't it the dryer you are supposed to put the balls in not the washer?

Sorry for the late reply Netty, no secret hun, i just bung them in the washing machine and then prop them up against the radiator to dry, then give them a little shake and hey presto new pillows again :)
