Must be Harold "Tiger" Wright who was a famous South African jockey of the 1940's/1950's. But to find out when he came to England and finished placed in a Classic will be hard to track down.
Frank23 - another question from GBQ. You know the GBQ rules even if the people on AB do not. Please do the hard work yourself.
1947

Thanks detecive. Really hard this time. Doubt that I will complete the first 50 again. Still it keeps the brain active.
Do you mean typing out the questions and putting them on A each month keeps your brain active?

I think that sarcastic comment was a bit uncalled for 2planks. Were you stuck on a question and that is why you were on here? We dont all do it for monetry gain, but for the satisfaction of taking part. After all, we do have to pay to take part in the quiz, and when truly stuck, a little bit of a nudge in the right direction is much appreciated.
I'm reasonably confident that 1947 is incorrect. So, to give you your nudge ... it's the St Leger.
No - it's The Derby.
If you aren't bothered about monetary gain, but for the satisfaction of taking part why are you bothered about having to pay? How many times do you have to be reminded that GBQ and GFQ questions shouldn't be asked on AB? If you truly want a nudge rather than a direct answer there is another site where you will be helped without giving the answer away. And in case you are wondering I do have the answer.
Well ... would you believe it? There are two answers, I missed that one. There you go - the Derby too. Any more ...? Should be easy now.
Or the 1000 and 2000 guineas or the Oaks - take your pick
Some people just don't want to be helped. I admit I missed the Derby answer, the St Leger is also correct according to my book. What is strange is that the two answers are only seven years apart. (And, it was always less likely to be the 1000 G or the Oaks because then the question might have been "Tigress".)
Thankyou Barrieallan for not giving Frank23 the answer to this one, but a hint. That's all that's needed sometimes.
apologies barryallen - got my a's and e's in the wrong places
