my loft is boarded out, and used for storage xmas tree camping gear, nd anything else that aint got a home lol, im wondering if i could line the loft walls with either thick polythene bubble wrap plastic or that white fleece stuff that u put under laminate, its just all the dust from the slates on the roof is every were and its to stop it covering everything, is it safe to do this, i know someone hu boarded there loft out for storage and has a teenager sleeping up there on a sofa ed, and they have lined the roof with plastic then over the top double bed sheets so the roof lookes like a tent lining,
Hi
Yes, you can line the walls with what you like.
However, if you are going to put anything non-breathable under the roof felt (if it is felted) or roof covering, you should make sure the underside (between the tiles/slates/felt and your covering) can breathe (has good ventilation) The support timbers will become wet otherwise. This will ultimately damage the roof.
the roof is a pitch and tile roof, in the roof space there are lots of joists and the back of the tiles, and lots of cobwebs, wot is the breathable stuff called i dont want any condensation, anyway id just line across the joist so nothing was touching the tikes themselves
So from what you say, there is no felt, just tiles?
I suppose the best stuff to fit over the rafters would be exactly what is laid under slate or tile insulated roofs now .. that is Tyvek. You can get this at builders merchants or Wickes. Check area, overlap and prices first tho.
