Hi - I need a small wall built in my back garden about 12 foot long and 12 inches high. How long would a bricklayer take to do this and what should I expect to pay? Thanks.

He'll need to hand dig the trench, form and pour the footing. This will take more time than it would take an experienced brikcklayer to actually lay the wall...
medsec... the materals involved in the footing will be minimal... a couple of 2 X 4 pieces of lumber and, of course the concrete (it should contain rebar for reinforcement however) so his time will be the major cost. Here in the U.S., a good bricklayer will make $60 to $70 per hour... you interpolate that with your currency to get a "ball park" figure...(Mrs. C was a medical secretary/transcriptionist here in the U.S. when she was still Miss K.)
