I went to arrange car rental in Ireland for my holiday in June and I was suprised that found no mention of car insurance. Wavier insurance is mentioned, but as its so cheap I assume I will need more to protect myself. I cannot beleive the rental will include insurance as no details of age or endorsements was necessary. For info, I'm over 50 with a clean licience, but Is it just a gamble that I turn up on the day and hope that I will be able to afford it or am I missing something. Any hints would be appreceated?
Thx

How much is it? What sort of car?
I can almost guarantee that price includes insurance, or you would not be able to purchase insurance waiver.
I suggest you contact the company and make sure you are very clear about everything you are paying for.
you'll find that you will have to pay the first X, probably around 750 Euros. you can pay a smallish amount to cover even that. Yes inurance is included in car rental.

Thanks all for your answers!
I'm gobsmacked, that I pay exactly the same premium as someone who has a poor driving record.
Badlad.
you haven't got a driving record to the car hire company though.
It's a shocker isn't it? Gets me every time too.

Also note that, as mentioned by R1Geezer, you may wish to cover the excess on the insurance.
