its my mams 50th birthday coming up. me, my brother and sister are arrangeing a family meal out somewhere. but me and my partner syuck on ideas for a gift. any ideas?
For my Mum's 50th we all clubbed together and bought her a pair of expensive earrings that matched a necklace my Step-Dad had bought her a few years before. So if she's in to jewellery then something just that little bit special to mark this occasions prehaps? or like carmalee suggests a bit of pampering would go down very well too :o)
Obviously depends on what you can afford. 50 is considered a biggy though so its worth pushing the boat out. How about an experience day, driving a fast car, or parachuting. Something that she might have always wanted to do but would never get round to on her own.
How about taking her to a show or a rock concert if any of her favorite performers are touring.
How about simply inviting her to your house and cooking for her.
In our family we seem to do a lot of experience kind of things!
How about a murder mystery weekend or something? We got my mum and stepdad one last chrismas and they had a fantastic time away.
my mum turned 50 2 yrs ago and i bought a wooden photo album from east of india i think they are called. it came in a wooden box and the album has mums memories on the front. i got loads of old pics from my gran and copied them. the album was full of pics from her as a baby growing up, pics of her as a teenager with my aunts and uncle etc and it finished of with more recent pics of her with my kids. the last page i left blank so we could ut in a group photo of her 50th birthday party. she loved it and howled for hrs!
It's my mum's 50th next month and although I think a pampering day is a fantastic idea, it doesn't include my hubby, my brother or my 9month old daughter, so we decided instead to club together and pay for one of those family portrait sessions at a studio and then go for a meal afterwards.
