I have never grown anything in my life.I would love to grow my own courgettes.Could i use a pot or do they have to be in a garden

A grow bag would be better than a pot, as they need a lot of water. Otherwise you can put them straight into soil when the risk of frost has gone.
I've grown them successfully in very large pots and will do again this year.
I suppose you could do it in a large pot, however the zuchinnis, as there know here in the U.S., need lots of room to trail their vines (Lots!) and lots of sunshine. Additionally, they pollinate better if there are two or more plants...
