Duty Free Tobacco - Spain

Anyone know approx price (Euros) of rolling tobacco (40 or 50g) at the moment in the Airport Duty Free in Spain (coming home)

Yep ... and no .. there is still a limit. The shops in the Airport departure lounges are much cheaper than buying here!

it's not duty-free any more, it's just regular local prices that include duty. So you're quite likely to find it cheaper in ordinary shops than in airport shops, same as in the UK.

Hi, try this site. It gives the prices of most brands. Someone put it on Tripadvisor a few months back so the prices should be more or less right and as most say it will be a lot cheaper in the local Tobacs or supermarket than at airport.

That's a thought we've all forgotten, I am sure NoM will confirm - you can't buy tobacco in the supermarkets in Spain any more, the law has changed, you can only buy it now in registered Tabacs. Prices vary between the tabacs though, so worth shopping around if you have a choice.

As a smoker who goes to Spain every year i can confirm that is true. Many a time i've driven around trying to find a Tabac open - the only place (apart from the airport) you can buy ciggies unless you smoke the brands kept in some 'pub' machines.

Someone was posting the other day that from July it will be illegal to smoke in Spanish pubs and restaurants. I shall be interested to see if they stick to it when we go over in the Summer.

Lol, We had some spanish workers working alongside us and would not stop lighting up inside even after being told off and warned by the security guards, sometimes they'd even light up and then hide the ciggies on the inside of their hands! Pubs and restaurants, so they can still smoke at work and on public transport?

Haven't heard that one Prudie, but Spanish bars and restaurants have to say whether or not smoking is allowed (I think it's to do with square footage?) and many have set up a separate smoking room. I haven't heard that the smoking room is to be outlawed.
Bigfoot I think (but I could be wrong) that the idea of restricting it to tabacs is something to do with price control as well as licensing the outlets able to sell tobacco, as the supermarkets were always undercutting each other (the supermarket always used to have a good deal on OH's cigs).

Smoking in the workplace is already banned in Spain. Smoking will be banned in all pubs and restaurants in June.

As said supermarkets dont sell tobaco products anymore,but you can get cigs from vending machines in bars.
The state run tobacos or Estancos are the cheapest place to buy,whether you buy in Marbella or Bilbao the price will be the same.
For personal consumtion the guide line is 3kg rolling and 3200 cigs,but you can bring more into UK but you will have to convince customs and exise its for personal use if stopped.To answer your Q 50grms rolling Golden Virginia 4.85euro.
