australian convicts
I am trying to find info on my G G Uncle. His name was Thomas Shilling born 1838 and transported to Australia in 1858.convicted for burglary his sentence was 20 years. The ship he was on was `Edwin Fox` and I have info on that. I also know he must have made good as he was granted a ticket of leave in 1861 and a conditional pardon in 1865.However I would like to know if he married and had a family the only other thing is apparently he died in1926 at Geraldtown Australia. Any help would be appreciated to fill in the final gap between the years.

You could try the Old Bailey site (just google), and I found a site a couple of years back that had a section on "unclaimed ancestors" where people in Australia hope to find the family of their convict ancestors. If you Google "Unclaimed Ancestors" You might find it. meanwhile I will see if I can find anything.
Hi carolegif Just tried the Old Bailey site but no more info there. Some lovely people in OZ have given me his whereabouts in the Australian electoral rolls. It does`nt seem as if he married,or had any children so no relations for me as far as I can tell so maybe I have come to an end of this search. He lived to the age of 84 and was buried at the Apex Park Cemetry Geraldton. Many thanks for looking up info for me.
