Yet another sad case, but the question that must be asked is:

Why were 2 sixteen year olds were allowed to keep their child, surely there should be a minimum age that persons can be allowed to take charge of a child.

Would anyone even allow them to babysit for them for a few hours, never mind take full responsibility?

the quote in the article says 'borderline learning disability' doesn't exactly scream 'mentally backwards'. Learning disabilities (an outdated term anyway, at least in education) can range from dyslexia to Down's syndrome, the lack of information in the article makes it near on impossible to judge the father based on this.

I saw recently that a 74-year old man became Britain's oldest dad.

Life expectancy for UK males is 77. So he's fairly likely to be dead by the time his child is 3. Older people can be irresponsible too.

Seeing as we're in the mood for passing laws and letting the government take more of our freedoms, shall we say you're not allowed to have children unless both parents are over 25 and under 35? Yeah?
