Might be beneficial to get some quotes for the replacement of your cam belt. If you can pay for BMW to carry out the work then I'd say thats good choice as your getting BMW mechanics doing the work which would prob be most trusted compared to a garage. (just how some would see it, i myself have no problem with neither type of mechanic) or if not from BMW somewhere such as Quick fit?

Just my suggestions sorry if not any help to you
The cam belt on my Vauxhall Astra snapped while I was driving it. 3k to fix.....luckily for me it had only done 18 thousand miles so Vauxhall replaced the engine.
Cambelt went on my Mondeo whilst on motorway.... didn't have clue that it was cam belt until was told by AA but ended up getting new car as was cheaper....but do miss mondeo lol
