Well I'm watching it and I have to say, Cleggy is kicking ar5e, as a Tory I know regulars will consider that high praise indeed.

I thought it was clever when he spoke about a black man concerned about immigration instead of highlighting it as a white issue. Everytime he embarked upon an ancedote I laughed and wished he would stop, but by the end of it, I thought - no - this is great, he is being personal and trying to relate to people through individual stories of his experience.
He was compassionate and praised soldiers, NHS workers etc - he said 'brilliant' 3 times. I found him convincing and forceful and his opening and closing speeches were inspiring. I think he represents a New Tory and I could see him as a good Leader. I didn't think this of Clegg at all. He did extremely well but there was no substance there. I think at one point he contradicted himself on the Immigration issue. I would rather a question be avoided then hear someone contradict what they just said especially in a debate like this.
sorry but I'm continuing......

Brown......I so wanted him to really sincerely apologise for some of the mess Labour has created. That debate was the perfect time for him to do so and he did apologise somewhat feebly but I didn't think he was sincere. He praised after Cameron did but no-where near as convincingly. Personally I thought that was his let-down. I don't dislike the guy but I was disappointed by him and his bullying! The amount of times the Presenter (forgotten his name) had to reign Brown in as he continued to verbally attack, didn't really help him at all.
I thought there was a good come back from Cameron when he told Brown you had 13 years to sort it out in relation to the Peers. However I have to admit the classic moment was Clegg's laugh of incredulity at Brown when Brown stated that Clegg agrees with him regarding the corrupt Politicians. I'm looking forward to the other two debates, I just wish they would have breaks during the airing.
