Thorpe Park

I know i'll get more response here then on destination/travel, so here goes......... the jd's are going to Thorpe Park, myself & Mr jd are a pair of wusses & so won't be going on the rides, the teenagers will be, my question is, are there any tips/advice from anyone about what it's like there or what to expect & is it costly to buy food/drink there?
I know some places don't allow you to take your own food - is this the case with AT?
Can't remember the last time I went to a theme park but looking on their site, i'm getting the jitters just looking at their 'rides'

it is expensive to eat and drink there. but there are kfcs and mcdonalds about the place. The hotdogs there are massive whcih I needed to fill my tummy up after I'd emptied it on one of the rides lol

I'm not the best at rides but still go on them. I was feeling a bit iffy after going on loads of the big ones then my mate took me on a rollercoaster that went backwards. :-( Did the same at alton towers too.

At Drayton Manor Park I couldn't face the big rides so I went for the swinging Galleon.

Oh my God, I hated it.

We're planning a trip to Thorpe Park as well.....

I'd be tempted to go mid week when schools are back. I know this means taking leave off work and kids out of school for a day but will save queuing an hour or so for each (big) ride.

The other alternative is to buy fastrack tickets which includes spending more money!

Ladies, here is a warning tale about the dangers of rides.

I once took middle junior overall on a tame looking ride at the fair but it turned out to be one of those rides that throws you all over the place. I was green when I came off but was heartened when a group of the offsprings teenage friends standing nearby gave me a round of applause.

I only found out later that they were applauding me cos everytime the ride went upside down, my boobs fell out!

Another warning: as a friend of mine once found, its not very clever to spew on one of the pirate ship type rides as it washes back to you every time the boat swings.
I felt sorry for the person opposite her who caught most of it as she did it

The really cringing thing with these parks are when really fat people cannot get the safety bars down. I feel embarrassed for them but surely they must have known there was a chance of this....

ummmm, had a case of that once :( (Not me mind!)
when I was at college we went on a trip to Chessington, and one of my mates, he wasn't huge, but a fair size and very tall as well. He had been desperate to go on Ramesis Revenge for ages, we all got on and it went round once ok. Then they stopped it and ove the microphone asked for the large boy in the front row to get off as he was stopping the safety bars closing properly! He was so embarassed, and I felt so sorry for him, it was horrible :-(

I mean ok, fair enough if he is too big, but dont let the ride go once with the bars not closed properly, and then announce it to everyone on the ride and watching to hear that he needs to get off!
