In my local supermarket, there is a display stand trying to get people to sign up to Sky, which includes HDTV, broadband and telephone. There is a demo screen showing football on a split screen, half of which is normal tv, the other half is supposed to be HD. It also shows the film Zulu in split screen. I asked the sales rep why there wasn't a demo of live HDTV, so we could all see it in real time and not on Blue Ray, which they use for the demo. He said it wasn't practical, which is why they use a disc. The reason I asked is because someone I know has HDTV and it doesn't look much different to me. Have you got HDTV? Is it as good for you as they make out? From what I've seen of it, I'm not vonvinced. What do you think?
I have HD TV but I have freesat. Its more channels than freesat but less than sky and lets face it who really watches all the sky channels. You pay a one of payment of £80.00 and no monthly payments. You really can tell difference with HD especially on nature programmes and the footie
we have hd and i have to look hard to tell the difference, maybe if you have a huge plasma it may be different, but on our 26" LCD i struggle to notice any difference to be honest x
With the football (and presumably other sporting events) the grass looks clearer and you can see the faces of the crowd better but those aren't usually the main reasons for watching football!
We have HD and you can see a difference as the screen looks sharper and more detail but to be honest I don't think it's worth paying extra a month (which with Sky you do). Half the time I forget we can get certain channels in HD and it's not till the end of the prog that I remember and think "dammit could've watched that in HD!!" (like I did with corrie last night!)
