car insurance for secondary drive of a banned driver

Hi I have car insurance on my uncles insurance and my uncle is going to be banned soon, when he is banned will it affect my insurance as I am insured through my uncles policy?

also I am in the UK, hope someone can give advice with this issue.

He can still insure the car but if it make you the main driver instead of a named driver you will have to inform the insurance company. Depending on your age etc etc the premiums might go up.
Yes I'm sure you'd need to inform the insurance company that you are teh main driver now. If you are a young driver you will probably find the premiums increase significantly.

Has your uncle been “fronting” your insurance for you? That is, has he insured your car as if it were the owner and/or main driver, and had you added as a named driver?

If so you need to be careful. Fronting usually invalidates a policy (as it means the policyholder has made a false statement when making the proposal). You may find that the insurers make some more detailed enquiries when you tell them about your uncle’s disqualification.

In any case, insurers will not normally issue (or continue) a policy when the policyholder is disqualified.
Yes you may find the policy is voided. He needs to contact the insurer asap to make sure you are allowed to drive
