I can't see panic buying unless people are made to panic. We can survive on quite a lot of home grown stuff (although we do rely on imports, they come by sea - most of the basic stuff in the supermarkets comes by lorry not air). Perhaps the local fruit growers might actually get to sell their fruit this year, instead of ploughing it back because the supermarkets could buy their hard-skinned plums cheaper from Spain than buying Victorias locally. Fruit and veg will be available in season again.
