Would like confirmation or otherwise of last three.
6dn In Shetland, frighten young gull out of yard (5) SCAUD?
7dn Strengthen philosopher's method, originally, to make a connection (6) MUNIFY?
19ac Ex president in local scrap, quite a while back (6) ORTYGA? (I thought it was ORTEGA< but then the Y in MUNIFY becomes an E!)
Any clarification appreciated before I waste a stamp!

6d Scaur(y)

7d Minite

19a Ortega
Sorry Munite for 7d
Ortega is the Ex President. ORT is a fragment/scrap with AGE (a while < back)
Hi K I didn't understand why 'ex' was in the clue - Ortega is the president, not the ex president.
Hi foxspur hope you don't mind my butting in.
Thanks for that JMR27.

For some reason I thought he had been overthrown in a CIA backed coup, but I must be confusing him with another of those South American leaders.

Well, one out of three is.... not good enough, as M. Wenger is probably thinking! Were you thinking Noriega perhaps? So is "fish seen by reef" SCAR or SCUR? I had SCAD, hence my D in SCAUD. Thanks to all.
Question Author
For the avoidance of doubt, I meant my one out of three, not anyone else's!
Sorry it was not good enough but to return to 6d!

A young gull is a Scaury - remove Y (yard) = Scaur (frighten/ scare in Scots)

Thtnks again, K and all other contributors!
