For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.From what I remember of my linguistics studies many years ago; accent is purely a description of pronounciation (difference between a Northern & Southern "Cup" for instance, or the longer A ("Faarmer") in South-West England.
Dialect, on the other hand, relates to regionalised grammar, vocabulary and syntax; less easy to think of modern examples, but summed up in an anachronistic line like, "Gor Blimey, guv'nr, 'e ain't no gent".
