Fishing rod problem

I put WD40 on the join of a fishing rod( I thought this would make the rod come apart easier. I then put the two pieces together and it will not seperate! It is a 7 ft beach caster, I have tried pulling and turning in opposite directions, tried tapping it ,any suggestions as I really need to seperate it to fit it in the car!!!

I've had this problem many of times, get a friend to hold one section and you the other and twist in oppisite directions.

As Bob says...you need two people....but try this.
Grip a section of the rod in each hand....above and below the joint.
Get a friend to do the same....now at the same time twist and pull apart using a motion like you were starting a car with a starting handle.
It will come apart....then get rid of the WD40 and use graphite instead.

Well I have tried this but it did not budge, I didn't think I had put them together very hard just as I normally do, will try that again though thanks for replying.
Any thing else I could try?

Is the join metal to metal ..... if so try keeping the join wet with coke or pepsi I know it works on the brass screw fittings on my garden umbrellas They got stuck with WD40 too

also try acetone or eucalyptus oil they will both dissolve deposits of old hardened lubricants
