Daily not weekly the innocent death toll rises because of some prick that's either pissed or on a high takes a life, is this the avenue to go down? & yes, before some of you start to say, & you do that for a living, you should be ashamed! ask that to someone that's just lost their son/ Daughter then get off your high morals.

Murderers rarely think about the consequences of their crimes. Just look at the number of fatal stabbings in London. There's nearly always an arrest and conviction. The killers don't think about that.
People like the Yorkshire Ripper or Huntley are driven by evil urges that are beyond comprehension. I can't see them being deterred either. The death penalty doesn't work.
This shows the mureder rate in Texas which restored the death penalty in 1976 doesn't look like a deterent to me
