extended leave because of volcano dust

just been reading in my local rag that the local council have given anyone who got delayed returning home because of the volcano dust an extra 5 days paid leave, i realise its not their fault but is it fair on the other employees? what do you think?

I think it's very noble of them.

Being stranded abroad for that long must have taken it's toll on them. It's ok for some who could afford to extend their holiday but imagine the stress for people on a budget.
