I have a LG flat Screen TV with built in Freeview and receive via a Toshiba recordable DVD player but when I record I can only watch the programme I am recording, I am unable to watch another channel. Any ideas please?

Video recorders and dvd recorders could record different channels, or with the tv turned off, because they have their own analogue recorders.
If you buy a digital dvd recorder you will be able to record as before.

Wow this seems to have set the cat among the pigeons, just to confuse the issue,I was receiving and recording before I moved house, at the old place, only a quarter of a mile away, I could record through DVD but watch through Freeview box, set to AV3. But Freeview box doesn't want to work at new address (I live in Devon). If I were to purchase a Freepay (not Freeview) box would this sort the problem.

I live in the north west, which does not receive analogue TV anymore. Also have a Freeview TV, so when we went digital, I had to go and buy a Freeview box so that I could record one channel on the Freeview box and watch another on the Freeview TV. If you've not gone digital yet, it would be worthy paying someone to check its all set up correctly. Have you gone onto the Freeview site to check to see if you can receive it in your new area?
