Many towns within the UK Including the one I live in have a large No of Taxi's, nowadays they are run by the Asian population, how many times have you got in one heard some sort of clatter & laughed, If you are a mechanically minded person you would know something is not right, would you complain, report to the police or justy say " sod it"

All taxis these days are supposed to be licensed and the cars checked but I do agree some do appear dodgy.
I'm usually unfit to make mechanical assessments when I'm in a taxi.
I know all the taxi drivers in my town
mini cabs as opposed to black cabs? But they're all supposed to be regulated by the council - if you're worried, take the registration number and phone the firm and ask if the car has been checked - it's in the company's interest else it could be fined - I'm sure you can do this annonymously if you wish

This is been sorted as we speak Merciasounds. I can assure you of that.
I have just been temping at my local council I was working in the Taxi MOT part. They have to have to have the car inspected every 6 months. If the car is ok they pick up new plates from the town hall. If it fails the new plate will not be issued until the faults are fixed.

I got in a minicab in Birmingham one night a long time ago, because we couldn't get a taxi - by the time we got home we were pretty certain that it was a mistake, the driving was appalling and we thought afterwards that he probably wasn't licenced officially.

Just a point for all, I ordered a Disabled taxi for our lads, stated our requirements this is what we do Sir was the reply, the person came Black cab, with side door ramps, NO FLOOR fasteners I asked where are they, we do not use them sir they are not required, needless to say I declined for the safety of our lads, you are taking one hell of a risk by riding in one of these without the floor EYES that the tighteners hook on to.
