But 10 months later and 2stone fatter I started again because I was bored, and just thought I could have one and it wouldn't matter. Well that one led to 20 a day again, that was in 1984. This time I feel different and I know that one cigarette wlll set me off again and I'm determined not to let it get to me. My leg is better, this is a new me. Chin up & good luck.
I gave up for almost a year until out one evening with new friends sat outside a pub on a summers night, when they started smoking, I did not know they smoked and it turned out they only smoked when they went out socialising, so I thought I can do that! Wrong!!!
I am now back smoking as normal again....Once you stop - STOP - no odd one here and there!
Good luck I am sure that you can do it

I gave up in 1972, prior to that I'd been a heavy smoker (20-30 a day) despite working ubderground when i couldn't smoke even when I wanted too and I literally gave up overnight, mind you it took me about 20 attempts. so stick with it jo, I won't say its easy but th secret is REALLY wanting to quit,it's hard to stop doing something you enjoy but if you want to you will
I've been getting myself mentally prepared for weeks! I've gone from 15-20 a day to 7-10! so think I've done well! I've got so many good reasons to give up & really like the idea of calling myself an ex-smoker so fingers crossed X I've got some patches to start with & will be going to a stop smoking clinic every tuesday so doubt I could be more prepared!! It would be nice though if I can call on ye ex-smokers for a bit of a confidence boost now & then :)
I gave up 13 years ago when my eldest Grandson was born. I had tried for years but the more I tried the more I smoked. I was in nursing and in them days you could smoke in hospitals and I did a lot of night duty so that didnt help. But I had no problem this time I just said I wanted to see my Granchildren grow up . I don't even know myself how I managed it so easy after all the years I had smoked. But never had a craving I guess I was just one of the lucky ones. Good luck.
