I loved this too but I still don't get it, what did she mean by all that's left - why did he leave on their wedding night or am I being naive?
It's david beckams birthday tomorrow, it wasn't about affording albums, only the students at the teacher training college bought LPs!!! we bought 45s and numbered them in our record box and lent them to mates who never gave them back grrrrrr

There is some debate, but generally it seems to refer to impotence, particularly in the line, "Love me, like you tried before" and of course if he left all she had left was her wedding band.
Prudie .. check this out ... quite interesting actually!
Caused some controversy at the time .. obviously.

.. so it's not impotence that is the issue .. it's frigidity, I think.
Well as a man you would say that ! seriously that is very interesting, I had wondered if it meant one or the other of those things but thought the topic too risque for its day to be that.
TBH .. most interesting thing I read all week!
