What an odd question. If you told me that the Timothy Taylor brewery was owned by a supporter of and contributor to the Conservative Party - as it may well be - would you expect me to stop buying that company's glorious Landlord Ale, because a penny of every pint might find its way into Tory coffers? Absurd notion! Same applies to the Murdoch empire's products.

I neither expect or dont expect you to stop buying the company's ' glorious ale ' - I dont know you personally .

However there may well be folk who would , out of a sense of their principles , or whatever you want to cal it .

Granted , it would be difficult to spend your time ascertaining exactly what every single product of this group are - in order to bouycott them .

However I have heard people stating that they are thinking of stopping their subscription to sky or buying the newspapers of the group ( one assumes therefore that that they are labour supporters )

As for the reference to UNITE /UNISON / ASLEF - what the dickens has your example got to do with the price of fish - do they own the the companies whose workers they represent ?

Well, Berti, I obviously do not know whether any given Tory supporter has a wife and children/grandchildren. However, if they do, I suppose you would expect them to have forbidden the former from ever shopping at Sainsbury's or the latter from spending a penny on any item of Harry Potter merchandise...books, cinema visits, DVDs or whatever. Why? Well, Lord Sainsbury and J K Rowling have been major Labour donors for years. The list could go on.

The point there surely is that it's a matter of swings and roundabouts, isn't it? Labour supporters are buying products provided by Tory donors and Tory supporters are buying products provided by Labour donors...and they always will if the products are to their liking. Eeksy-peeksy!
