Does anyone know precisely how to reduce the maximum heat output of an 'Ecotec 318' please

Have you the installer's and maintenance manual?
Usually set by a combination of gas jet orifice size, and burner pressure.

Is there a rating plate/sticker inside boiler with btu outputs listed at different burner pressures? That is a start.

OK. Can be done, some need burner pressure adjustment, some injector change, too!
