I did not know which category to put this in, however I really would appreciate your help. I was wondering what details you had to give to an Estate agent before viewing a property (obviously your name), but do you have to give details of your address ?? The reason I ask is I am looking to buy a buy-to-let as an investment, yet I have a rahter high profile in my local area (no, I'm not a celebrity, or criminal !) and do not want my address to be given out to strangers, as the agent could pass my address on. Thanks for your help.

Hi there.

I used to work in an Estate Agents, and by rights they should not pass your details onto any other parties. However, there would probably be no way of you finding out if they had, so if you are in doubt then simply don't give your address. This does obviously restrict you from receiving regular mailshots.

I would suggest you register just giving your telephone number and then regularly check their websites for updates.
