All I have heard recently and read, particularly on this site, are negative comments about the programme Lost. Everyone says it's not realistic, that would never happen, etc etc. Would you rather everyone had died in the plane crash? Would that have made for a better programme? Can you not understand that sometimes certain things have to be unrealistic to make a show work in the first place? If you don't like it don't watch it.

I for one thought it was ace!

I'm also in lust with Jack- very yummy!

It's only a television programme, lukey. People are free to like or dislike it and to come on AB and say what they like about it.   Having said that - I think most people who have criticised things in it, still liked it. I mean, people like to nitpick don't they?
totally agree with you lukey- people are so negative about it. no-one wants to see the real blood and gore that would really happen in a plane crash like that do they? then the programme would be said to be too real. its so stupid- i love the fact its unrealistic- polar bears in the jungle are ace!!
I thought (think) maybe they ARE all dead (but don't know it), hence the lack of realism in the crash etc.
People seem to forget how The X-Files wasn't too realistic either, but everyone seemed to love that show - just look at how long it ran for. No-one ever really questioned its realism. Anyone who cannot see a programme for what it is (ie entertainment) should really open their eyes a little wider & just roll with it . A little escapism never hurt anyone did it?
i think people are judging as it a 'real life' situation.i think they have missed the point that their will be a large fantasy element playing its part also.

ye i thought it was great, dont know why people dont like it

I caught the first 5 minutes, and i'm sick of seeing such unrealistic crap. Unless a plane full of models crashed, why are they all so good looking? Other than the token "deep, but ugly" guy... and the token fat guy, they are all models!! get a grip
I've certainly enjoyed watching the first 3 episodes of Lost. Sometimes you just have to suspend belief for a while - I know I did with 'Twin Peaks' - which I loved.

dont mean to miss the obvious here, but the whole series is based on the fact that the viewers dont and wont know the full extent of the whole shows mystery!

I mean the first 5 mins shows a guy waking in a strange place, for some reason a thousand miles from where they are meant to be, an island full of mysterious dangerous creatures, polar bears in a tropical environment, a strange radio signal 16 years old, and as will be shown, all the characters starting to have backgrounds that are all linked to one another in some way that will become more obvious as the series goes on! The plane broke up in clear weather with no reason to it, thats part of the mystery! the fact that half the passengers lived, the other half didnt, again part of the mystery to be resolved! It could all just be a way of making the opening pilot show as dramatic as possible of course as it is the most expensive pilot show in television history and would be needed to hook the viewers right into it immedietly!

Keep Watching!!!!

If there is nothing else worth watching tonite I am going to watch the repeat just as I did with 24, that way I can perhaps pick up any clues.  Sad I know but I am a lifelong telly addict and so with having 3 more days before I go back to work I am going to chill and do what I want to do!
I enjoyed it lukey and posted nothing but positive comments.  We get enough reality in life so I m all for fantasy on tv.
I'm enjoying, and i don't normally watch much tv other than comedy. As mentioned before all the unbelievable things happen for a reason...that's the point!!
The fun is making up your own theories (current one in my head is similar to Event Horizon and the island is alive). Also channel 4 have edited out some gorey bits. I've seen the abc version (mainly as it's in HDTV and looks amazing) and they show more blood and that.
